Anyone have advice on replacing the torque converter solenoid on a 98 explorer sport (4.0L).

I've dropped the tranny pan and need to know where the solenoid is.

HELP!

Just curious

How you know it needs to be replaced but you don't know where it is? I encourage people to work on their transmissions, but not without a manual. www.bulkpart.com has them for only $16.

TCC is first of the group of four, next to the engine. On earlier transmissions the valve body needs to be dropped to remove the keeper from the back. Not sure on this transmission. So don't try to force it.

I suspected that it was the TCC. I then went to the Ford shop; the coades indicated the TCC, and there was a TSB to replace the TCC.
