This is my first post but I've used this site previously to research issues and solutions that have come up on my 99 EB. The problem I had was fixed using the wealth of experience expressed in the various forums. My problem was a no start; engine turns over but wouldn't start. It has 99K on it and since I'm the second owner I don't know how well maintenance was kept. I researched all the posts regarding no starts, fuel pump, and fuel filter. I did the common steps to isolate the problem and determined I might have a dead fuel pump based on the symptoms. I could never hear the fuel pump prime so I was 90% sure it was the pump but I wanted to replace the fuel filter and observe if fuel was pumping from the open line. If I had to replace the pump I'd need to replace the filter anyway. Fuel filter came off with a little resistance and when my wife hit the starter I had a nice stream of fuel flowing from the line. So the prognosis was a clogged fuel filter. I put the new filter on and it started and ran after a couple of tries. I dicsonnected the battery to reset the computer and it's been good so far. So I'd suggest this as a simple check before you decide to replace the pump. This site really helped direct me to find the root cause pf my problem before spending $200 - $600 dollars with the local Ford dealers.
