OK- I have something I'd like to do. I'm going to try my best to explain it:

When you have your headlights on at night, your front turn signal bulbs and marker bulb all light at half power. Then when you put your blinker on, they light up fully. What I would like to do is make it so that when your headlights are on, the bulbs light up fully then blink to half power when the blinker is on. Is this possible? And if it is, can it be done without affecting the blinker operation when the headlights are off?

There are two filaments inside most Front park/directional lights. The low power light you speak of should be the parking light and the full power/high light is the directional light. So if you can find a bulb that has the opposite tangs on the side if the lamps then it might work.

Of course the low light during the day may not be enough to be seen. Usually people go for brighter lights.

The project I am working on at this time will have enough LED lighting to light up NY, especially when I hit the brakes.

Good Luck, Keepum bright...

I wouldn't recomend trying this. The reason is due to the heat emmiting from the bulb will melt your parking light lenses. The factory uses the lower wattage (dimmer) filament for the parking curcit because it doesn't create as much heat as the turn signal filament. By running the brighter filament as your parking light the bulb will create a greater ammount of heat within the lense and over time it will begin to melt it.

This would be pretty drastic but if you really wanted to switch the order of how the lights work you could install a couple 12volt fans one blowing in and another pulling out. just drill small holes where the fan will push or pull air from so you cant see a dark spot from the front. That may work ok but then you will have the bulbs burning out more often. what your saying would solve all uf our problems with clear corners and the hyperwhite bulbs. good luck if you do it and let us know how it goes. Major

yeah I wouldnt recommend doing that because of what mrboyle said. Too much heat. And the fan idea would be a little drastic just to get some lights going. And if you drill holes you will get water in them.

My friend has a chev venture and the dlr on it is the turn sig. bulb on the high power full time. Looking at the enclosure it appears no different than the Fords.
I dont think you are gonna melt the turn signal lense.
I switched the wires in my 97 Cad. to have the bright light on all the time and it did nothing to the enclosure.
I have not tried it on the X yet but I will as I think no problems will result. After all its made out of the same stuff as the headlights.

what wires do you have to switch because i have a set of clear corners that i am probably going to replace anyway so if it wont mess up my wiring too much i may try it. Major

just had another idea along these lines...

woudl there be any way to use a 3156 bulb like the rear, and make it on all the time hwile the lights are on but when you put your blnker on it switches off/on? basically same thing as what the rear blinkers do, just backwards...

what about those LED Cluster lights to replace the incadescent turn signal bulbs? They draw less currnet, light up quicker, and don't get hot. I know they make them for the backup and tail lights, but do they make them for the blinker?

that would work- except that i am trying to duplicate the whiteness of the headlights while the parking lights are on. LED white doesn't match, nor does it glow as bright during the day. good suggestion though.

anyone have any other ideas, what about my 3156 idea?
