There is the transmission temp. gauge installed in the line coming out of transmission to cooler. I guess it won't hurt to crack the top fitting once all the lines are run and it's filled with the proper amount of ATF to rid of air. Need to strap it and run line to temp gauge. Then finish running the return line.
Punch list getting smaller and smaller.

4 Wheel parts warehouse called Thur. night and said that they forgot to ask if shipping address and billing address were the same. All they first asked was for a shipping address. Now they called back 2 days later and asked about the billing address. So now instead of getting the tires today it will be next week. Pissed.

here is the tires and rims rookie, i have to bring the mounts in about 10 inch on the bumper.these are tucked way more than the 29 tsl/sx's.

I think the e fan will be a wise choice.

I don't understand why some feel that it will be inadequate at low speeds. The e fan should be better than an engine driven fan at low vehicle speed ( the e fan can run at full speed and any vehicle speed ).

Aldive its not a question of "feeling" this way
The truck gets hot when crawling in low range with the tires aired down in the middle of the desert. 4x4ing puts alot of strain on your axles, brakes, transmission, engine, cooling, etc

I know there are fans on the market that will cool my truck with my current $500 radiator, but making it/them fit, feeding them power and then finding out in the desert that "hey this E fan wont keep her cool either" sucks ba*%s.

Dont ask me to explain it, according to the people who make the 16" fans I have tried the e fan pulled way more CFM then my factory unit and clutch, but the proof is in the pudding.

There are alot of members on this forum that had the same issue.

I wish i did have an E fan, I love the HP it frees up and how much quicker the truck seems to rev......

The gentleman I responded to does not live in a desert area.

We wheel a Jeep with an e fan with no problems whatsoever in the hot Florida area. Further, there are many others who wheel here with e fans.

I dont live in the desert either, I was just giving you a worst case.
No matter what I tried, with a 4.0L, 4.0L HD radiator, full shroud and e fan in 4 low it would eventually heat up.

Just my experience with my BII
I learned MANY others on this forum suffered similar results when trying the e fan

So I guess the best advice for a trail righ with e fan is approach with caution
A factory like cooling system with an e fan just may not be adequate enough, but I am sure its hit or miss as we all know cooling system setups vary. What works for some may not work for everyone, I guess I jsut gave up on the e fan after 3 failed attempts

FYI it would never run hot during normal driving or even 1/3 of the day in 4 low, but eventually it would get to a point (like 225 degrees water temp) and then never come back down, heck most of the time around town driving even with the AC on the e fan would never even kick in and the truck sat at 190 degrees (I had a 180 thermo back then), but sure enough hit the trail, go slow enough and BLAMO it would start to get hot and keep climbing, every time in the colorado mountains (yes yes we lack oxygen, wonder if that contributed?)

I do not doubt what you are saying, nor do I wish to argue.

I just can't see how a conventional fan can cool/move air better than a well designed nd properly installed e fan. The conventional fan will be running slow at crawling speed whereas the e fan can be at max.

Thanks for the input guys. Would like to get one of those electric fans.
The way my B2 is built I don't think I'd have an overheating problem with that large fan.

Might just need some fender flares. That outward offset in going to widen the stance and hopefully more stability along with that outboard shock.
the down side is shorter bearing life. O, well. But I gain a better roll over angle due to the larger track.

thats about right :)

wide tires = mud slinger

Come on mud! I'd love to hit some of those dirt trails on the farm after about an inch of rain. Could just go down to the barn where the horses and cows are and sling some of those fresh cow pies. Better not, that stuff sticks like super glue when it dries.

410, or anyone else ever heard of stretching the rear wheel wells instead of using flares? I know they do it on some rangers.

pulling bed sides on a Ranger and a BII are two very different things.

yes it can be done I believe, I plan to

But you have to cut up much of the tub/cargo floor, etc

Ranger = easy couple of hours
BII = harder couple of days

That's what I thought. I just looked and it, seems that I would have to some how grind off spot welds where the inners and the outers meet just above the tire to form that little lip that folds under about an inch. there is no way that I can move the inners over. The cage for one thing. Just don't know? Might just go out there and see just how both many welds there are. I did spend a few minutes and was able to separate the two skins. Then ran into first spot weld. And then will it pull out just at the top or will the sides come out also even if all welds are eliminated. Going back out and will probably really screw up:D

pull both skins together??

that just what I did with a jack, moved about a 1/2" so far. May just get flares?

Took a little break from the big stuff on the build and replaced those roof cab lights which are on right with those super low amp draw LEDs. Most all my small bulbs are LEDs. Those little filament bulbs are too hot to even touch. While those LEDs are cool.
A little more expensive at first but in the long term, much better including less draw on the alternator and switches.

IMG_4755.jpg

IMG_4757.jpg

I noticed that I had to compress the contacts in the bulb holder a little closer for a tighter fit on the slim LEDs.

IMG_4758.jpg

The two on the right and the last one on the left are LEDs, while the other two are the regular bulbs. I did this for comparison. The LEDs are more crisp, lack of a better word.
I have LED turn signals and dash lights also.
When it's darker those LEDs look really sharp. I'll have some additional LED marker lights along side the bed and cab also.

sweetness

If you still ahve front parking lamps (would have to look back pages for grill pics) consider some BII clear parking lamps, they are alot sharper then the factory yellow lenses

Where do you get the clear ones?

IMG_4759.jpg

I tracked my tires and found out that they were delivered to R&L trucking terminal only a few miles from my house. I called them up and they said they will be here tomorrow. I said I'll be right up :D . Those are 33s x 12.5

IMG_4761.jpg

Need to take them to Goodyear this evening so they can start first thing in morning, so they say. But first I just had to check them out.
The truck still has to go up higher about 3+ inches. You can see the center of the Axel has to go up. The rear Axel is setting on jack stands. Plenty of room. That's with a 3" BL only, no suspension lift.
I like the way you can see the outboard shock and traction bar.

IMG_4762.jpg

Then I rolled the tire up to the front. The back of fender will have to be trimmed. Can not center tire on axle. I like that view of the headers. Need to put on that coilover. But first have to weigh truck for those springs.

IMG_4764.jpg

That's about how far the tire will stick out. I like the idea of a wider track. Wonder how close I am to what a full length axle would be? I'm really thinking of making my own removable front flares out of sheet metal. Just don't know yet.
Need to bleed those brakes. It's getting real scary now. LOL

I've been following this thread for over a year, but it doesn't seem like that long, and now the thread is really getting exciting. Its looking very good. I still like that paint. Still thinking that might be my truck's next color.
