What kind of tires and what pressure are you running?

it feels like im riding without shocks. its hard as a rock. im not sure how to make it better. and the tires are in my signature
and i run the pressure a little under the correct amount.

I hope your not inflating them to the max on the tire's sidewall.
That's only for the max. load capacity the tire can carry.

What are you setting the tire pressure to?

What kind of ride are you judging against- don't expect too much, it's a BOF SUV... :)

Agreed though- what tire pressures are you running?

I did install Monroe Sensatrac on my Explorer and the ride it is better than was with the original shocks. Smoother on small bumps and more damped on bigger ones.
Hardness of the ride it is more due to the springs (torsion bars/leafs, tire pressure), not the shocks. Shocks are just damping the movement.
Tire pressure on mine is 32psi (on the door pillar is written 30psi).

i think my tire pressure is somewhere in the 30 range, i belive 35psi.

so how can i make it smoother?

Drop the tire pressure down to 30 or buy a different SUV.

Fill the back with sand? Mine rides better with a load. Road tires instead of on/off blocky tread hybrids might help a little too.

Switching from dismal Goodyear Wrangler RT/S to Michelin LTX M/S improved my ride ALOT.
