My Explorer Takes Double Platinum Plugs. When I Changed Them Recently They Werent The Right Ones, And The Engine Had A Surge At Steady Speeds. I Wanted To Save The Money, So I Didnt Buy Double Platinum This Time Either.theres Still A Surge. Whats The Chance That Could Be My Surge?

If the surge happened immediately after changing the spark plugs, and nothing else changed, it's pretty obviously due to the plugs, or something else you did during the change. Did you gap the plugs correctly? Are you sure all the wires were reconnected properly and to the right plugs? You might need to go back and re-check your work. If everything else is fine except for the kind of plugs you used, you might try putting the old plugs back in and see if the surge goes away. If it does, you'll know it's the plugs. Bad idea on not getting the double platinum/platinum plus plugs.

thanks for the response but as i stated the plugs werent right to begin with and the surge was already there and is still present after the change

What did the plugs look like when you removed them?

Did you check for any codes?

Looked Like They Were Burning Good As Far As Color.visable Wear On Electrodes.truck Ran Good Before Plug Change And Really No Better Or Worse After, Aside From The Surge At Steady Speeds.there Is No Check Engine Could There Still Be A Code?

there could possiblly be a code - its just that it hasn't set enough tmes to light the CEL. I'd put double plats in it and see what happens.
