I bought the 92 XL mentioned in an earlier post re: what to look for in a 92. It really had only 80K miles. Going through it, prepping it for my 19 year old to abuse and I noticed that the stock rims (polished, drilled holes) has the clear coat on the anodize oxidizing or coming off. Has anyone removed the clearcoat and just polished the rims?

I know that once the coating is off, I will have to keep them polished but anything will look better than the way they are now.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

i used to work part time at a car wash when i was younger and the people there used a mild solution of muratic acid and water in a spray bottle for alum wheels ....not to good on the finish but they only did that treatment to the worse case cars that rolled in ...really took every thing off nice and clean ,just make sure you rinse them off REALLY GOOD (front and back or the wheels will start to look chalky) then go over them with some good wax or polish to keep them that way .
