roof scoop?

ok so the whole idea here is just to hide a snorkel. so I was thinking of putting a small hood scoop where my moonroof is and running the pipes on the inside of my X to my stock air box.

Im not concerned about anything, I just wanted to see if anybody has done it before? Ill go search around for parts this weekend and probably start next weekend....

I think the tubing would have to be run inside, alongside the A Pillar. Either that or maybe you could run a 1" tube on either side and have it meet in the middle.

How were you planning on running it up there?

i was planning on going through the firewall and then up along the a pillar on the passenger side....but ya on the inside of the truck....

the hardest thing would be finding a scoop but i might end up just making the whole thing out of sheet metal and just sealing everything with silicone.....

ive never done anything with sheet metal really....


i was also going to take an adventure into fiber with making a speaker/sub box, so maybe i could fiberglass my own scoop and just paint it?


fiberglass would be a lot easier for making custom shapes and i could make the whole thing a one piece scoop and turn it around on the inside to a funnel shape to my pipes

how are you going to hide a 3" pipe in the pillar?

im running it along the pillar...not planning on hiding the pipe.

theres no interior anyways so i dont think it'll look out of place...



im going to look for stuff to build my mold this weekend....ive decided on fiberglass.... im kind of excited.... ill keep the mold incase anyone else with a moonroof wants a roof scoop haha... IF it turns out well

not a good idea to cut the firewall in some states it may be illegal

Why not down the B pilar and under the body? Seems like it would be in the way up front.

I had a universal roof scoop on my saturn. i believe it was from the company extreme dimensions and was fairly cheap (i think around $80 shipped). it was pointless on ym saturn i just had it for the rice-tastic effect. it looked identical to the one on the eclipse in fast & furious. and was extremely good quality of fiberglass.

that's just an idea, but yeah...sounds like a really cool project!

ya i was thinking about buying a scoop but im looking forward to doing my own fiberglass....


I dont know if ill cut into the firewall, im going to lose the dash soon and see if theres something i can get rid of to make room for my pipes...maybe blower motor? the only thing i use on my truck is heat but i get plenty from the trans and headers since i dont have carpet hahaha...

ill look around and see what works
