Got to change brake pads today and found out that all rotors on my Sport are "falling apart". Serious! All four rotors show signs of rust and plenty of it and chunks are even falling off.

It seems that they were made out of wrong material.... could that be? I'm gonna get a set of new ones tomorrow but will report it for sure and keep my receipts.

Anybody else with this problem???
I've got a 98 Sport with only 41k miles....

This is a known issue with factory rotors. You should be able to get them replaced free of charge at your local dealership. Even though you're out of the 3/36 warranty, the dealership has the authority to cover them. We do it all the time at the dealership I work at. I had the rear ones on my 97 Sport replaced at 53,000 miles under warranty. Hopefully you don't have one of those "BUTT-HEAD" dealerships that are out there.

ewwww....get some good aftermarket ones ;)

well, I just got the aftermarket ones from a guy I know at "Merlins mufler and brakes" for $65.00 a pop. I'm gonna take the "****ty" ones to the dealer and see what they say.

BTW - rear ones are also gone........

same thing on my 2001 xlt... the inside of the roter is flaking like its rusting bad... and the steal or what ever there made of is flaking off..

I think I'm gonna report it to NHTSA . . . . this might be one of those silent recalls when they replace stuff for free whenever people come in.....

Dealer I called knows nothing about this problem...... I reported it to the NHTSA..... see what happens.......

how did you report it? email ? phone #? tell me i will call too!

when you have all the details (make, model, date of purchase, dealer info, VIN, milage) you can report the problem on their website: NHTSA

I think they might want to get in touch with me.... but on the other hand thay might have thousands of reports every day......

Just remember...Any parts replaced by the Dealer under warranty has to be replaced with factory parts.

Has anyone had problems of this on the '95 model? I may have to look now.

When I removed my original front rotors a couple of months ago and 94K miles, they appeared to be in good shape, but they were warped so I junked them.

the rear ones for some reason seem fine...... I'll check later... looks like I'll have to replace them anyway since one is pretty badly wounded (deep groove)....

good luck all!

and be safe!
