Got a chance to run up our schools freshly powder coated ramp today and scored a 571 with the sway bars disconected, otherwise stock. what are you scoring with your X?

What's the ramp angle?

well hell if i know ..... i kinda figured that was like a standard thing..... Well i guess you learn something new everyday ......i may have to find out....... i do know that we took the distance up the ramp divided by wheelbase and then multiplied by 1000 to get a score. I had 112 inch wheelbase, 64 inches up the ramp and that came out to 571....

We had one of the instructors Jeeps score a 1029 and a BumVee score 990, both heavily modified

IF IT IS A standard ramp it should be 20 degrees.....

We got a 93 Explorer sport to ramp 1000, no sway bars, SOA in the rear, cut and turned TTB up front, extended arms, 33's and 5" suspension....

I will be ramping my truck on the same ramp (88 BII, similar setup) in the next few weeks..........

Seriously is that the correct way to determine? on a 20 deg correct?

yeah, thats the right way. i got about a 420 with sway bars connected. then i got a running start in 4-low and got almost a 700 (left rear tire was almost 2 feet off ground ;) )

I thought the whole idea was to see how far you could get with all 4 wheels still in contact with the ground (or ramp with the front)

20 deg sounds about right but i will find out next time i see a prof

If you aren't sure of the angle of the ramp you can still figure it out.

Just drive up the ramp and then measure the vertical distance of the tire on the ramp (how high off the ground it is relative to all the other tires).

now go to http://mark.legendz.com/ramp.html and fill in the numbers (wheel base, height of the tire and what ramp you want the score to be based on) and it will give you your score.

I have found this to be very accurate (within 1 or 2 points depending on how well you measure).

BTW.. Our X in stock form got just over 500 (I don't remember exactly)..

Here are a few pics of our Stock X (with 30" tires) being ramped.

Rick, I love the wing on the top of your ramp! That ramp is made for high speed mobility.:D

Thats Fouts Motor Sports ramp, where Rick gets a bunch of his work done...

Rick that is a flexy 4 door for sure! You maxed that sucker out no problem.......

is that 20 degree's???

That's a 24degree ramp with aerodynamic modifications done for hi-performance ramping :D

Actually that's FST Motorpsorts ramp.

So what score did you get Rick?

Just eyeballing it, looks like Rick got around 930-960.

Basically if you get far enough up the ramp so the center of your rear tire is at the start of the ramp, that's 1000. That's the farthest you can get an accurate ramp score.

EDIT: I guess you can get a higher ramp score if you have rear steer and can steer the rear alongside the ramp instead of up it.

In order to get the rear tire centered at the base of the ramp you actually have to start climbing the ramp with the front of the the tire which throws off the measurement. You can come in at an angle to run the rear tire along side the ramp so you can center the tire with the base.
