Hi all

I have just foung a rubber hose hanging from underneath my explorer. It is connected to the upper right (looking from the front of the car) side of the transfer case and looks like it should run up into the engine bay.

Could someone tell me where this should connect to?

My Fan is also not shifting off the windscreen defrost setting (ie air will only blow out the vents at the base of the windscreen). I understand this could be a vacuum problem. Is it possible that this hose is a vacuum hose and there is no vacuum pressure because the hose is off?

thanks
Matt

The hose is a breather hose. Usually it's clipped in on top of the transfer case. It allows the case to breathe as it heats up and cools down.

For your other problem, do a search here on "Blend Door"...it's a common issue.

so that hose is not meant to be attached to anything?

Should i just secure it up out of the way somewhere?

The hose doesn't attach to anything. Just tie it up to the highest point you can get it with a zip tie. You dont want any water or debris entering that hose. Try to get it up around the top of the bell housing if possible.
