First of all I would like to say that I am happy to have found this forum full of useful info :)

Well here is my situation,The wife calls and says there is a "hose hanging down".

She gets home,I crawl under the vehicle to see a black rubber hose that comes from the front side of the Transfer Case,Where the other end connects to? I have no idea at this point.

The vehicle is the 2000 Explorer XLT with the Auto/4x4 High/4x4 Low with the 4.0 V-6....Any help will be much appreciated :)

From the sound of it, you are looking at the vent hose for the t-case. It typically attaches to a bracket that is located on the passenger side of the bell housing, near the top of the bell housing. If the bracket is missing/ broken and you don't drive in deep water, you can just zip tie the hose to the wireing harness that is running down the top of the tranny from the engine bay. Make sure to keep it as high as possible (to keep out any unwanted water/mud) and you should be fine.

Thank you very much for the answer :)

I will zip tie that sucker back where it belongs.
