Running Board Delete

Hey everyone! Just picked up a 2016 Ford Explorer Sport with the 3.5 EcoBoost! Love this thing and just don't understand the point of the running boards on it. I thought it was going to be just as easy as taking the 3 nuts off the bolts and they were just going to pop off. Unfortunately that isn't the case. I haven't really been able to find anything on anyone taking them off. I can't be the only one who has done this. What am I missing??

Welcome to the Forum.
I don't recall anyone talking about taking them off. I don't believe they were a factory installed option. Likely installed by the previous owner.

Unbolt the 3 bolts, then the running board will need to be pushed up toward the body slightly and will dislodge

Ended up taking the boards off the brackets then taking the brackets off
