running wires

well i just put it back together for the night it was to dark to do any running so ill be doing it tomorrow i think i am gunna use those connectors looks nice and clean and i love when wiring is easy to work with lol

just bought the same connectors for the wire/harness wiring and gold plated crimps for the speakers now how do i know which wire from the speaker goes to which wire on the harness like the big crimp and small crimp?

the harness should be color coded. Sometimes the wires are even labeled as to which one it is. Obviously there are 4 pairs of wires. White should be left front, grey should be right front, green should be left rear and violet should be right rear. The solid wire is (+) and the one with the black stripe is (-). Thats the way it is on my pioneer and i am making the assumption there is some sort of industry standard. You could always just hook everything up and then use the HU fade function to figure out which ones you have to change. As for which speaker wire is going to which speaker....well i labeled mine when i ran them, so if you didn't you may just have to go for trial and error, checking with the fade function. You could probbly use a volt meter to run conductivity to figure it out as well. Might need an exta set of hands for that one.

thanks for the help i did the wiring this moringing took some pics looks nice sounds nicer? lol i can put it to full volume with little to no distortion it differs from song to song mostly the prob is when it has a hight symbol(hard rock) but it sounds great alot better ! thanks for the help ill post pics later but now i have to go to work

I'm still wondering does the heavier gauge wire make a difference? If you were to run heavier wire to the HU would it sound better than just using the bypass harness?

well like i said, i have the 14g wire running from my HU to the the speakers. I couldn't tell you if it is better than using the by-pass as I never installed one, so i can't compare. I can tell you that my Pioneer 750 HU running thru the 14g wire to 4 pioneer 3-ways sounds darn good. I also can get to 95% max volume with out distortion. Its louder than I would want to listen to it for awhile. Probably not gonna win any titles in a comp. But then again i don't think many comp winners are running their speakers off the HU.

Part of my way of approaching car audio is buy stuff that will work with the next step. I bought a nicer HU that had 3 sets of hi-volt outputs. And then ran it to 4 door speakers. But now 2 years later and I am now using that sub out for a small sub in the back. In the event i decide to add a amp for my door speakers, i already have a HU with 6V pre-amp outs and now already have heavier gauge wire running thru my doors.

Plus a roll of 50ft. 14g wire is 1/2 the cost of the by-pass kit. (well at least the cheap stuff i had mentioned before)

I dont know how much of a diffrence the wiring makes but I can tell you with no amp and no subs you can still hear my stereo from a good 110 yards clearly so I am happy I think being able to hear it loudly and clearly is better then having all that base where all you hear is base .

ok being that before this job i have rarely had my HU out i dont know if this is normal or not but i took it out to asjust the wiring behind the radio after it was on for a bit and the back of the radio (it looks to me like a heat sink) was really hot is this because now the radio is using its own amp? and the amp uses the heat sink?
