Rust repair

There is some rust spots on a ‘04 Explorer I am looking at purchasing and want to know what would be something I could do myself to repair due to nothing major for the bottom of passenger door surface rust and the left rear fender spot? Underneath looks solid.

I’d not buy a truck with rust started. You will always be fighting that hole on the wheel well, unless you cut it and weld in a complete new piece.

Rust is always deeper, and wider than it looks. By the time you get to good, clean, reliable metal there will almost surely be a hole.
