Rusted Oil Pan - 98 SOHC

I have a very rusty looking oil pan on my 98 SOHC. Are these known to fail from rust? Is there clearance to remove it and replaced without raising the engine, etc? Would I want to replace rod bearing while I am in there?

I have not tried myself but think I vaguely recall reading that there is not clearance for removal without raising the engine.

No need to raise the engine. I pulled my pan and did a swap to a Dorman pan with a magnet and a new gasket. Pretty simple job.

Got a gasket at AutoZone. Whole job was less than $50 including oil.
