We've had the Ex for 9 year now and it looks like we are going to buy a different vehicle :( I may still back out because I love this thing so much, 145k trouble free miles and it will probably go another 145k without issue. Not much for deals on a new Ex so it looks like we may be getting a new 23 Bronco, give that a try and if we don't like it go back to a 27 or 28 Ex. We are selling this one to a friend of ours that really needs a reliable car so we will still get to see it once in a while. I'll probably end up doing the maintenance on it so we will still get some alone time together.

Remember that the Bronco, unlike the Explorer, is a body-on-frame vehicle, so it will be rougher.
Was the water pump replaced in the 2015?

Peter

no, water pump has not been replaced, phasers are original, never had anything opened up on it....I changed plugs at 100k and they would have made it another 50k. friend of mine has a shop and gets a lot of these 3.5 longitudinal engines through there and hasn't done more than a couple water pumps....most of those units have 2-300k on them.

Best of luck with your new ride. Enjoy!

Hopefully, the pump will be one of those that doens't fail. BTW, the 3.5 in the 5th gen is a transverse-mounted engine. ;)

You'll forget about the old ride soon...enjoy your new vehicle.
