Hey, I'm looking to lift my explorer some, nothing huge, and it cant be so high that I'm gonna flip the thing over (came close once or twice)

Would 2" be a noticeable lift and still safe?

Thanks,

-Tyler

I'd say that "safe" is 10% vehicle, 90% driver. I drive a 4" lifted 1st gen Explorer with no swaybars. No rollovers yet. As long as your lift is mechanically sound safe is very relative.

If that lift is performed so that everything is aligned and tight afterwards it will be as safe if not safer than stock. This is taking into account the wider track given by new, larger tires.

The key when lifting is to offset the raised center of gravity by increasing the width and spacing of the tires.

I was looking into a Body Lift moreso than a suspension lift. Anything I should be concerned with when doing this. Also, I checked SummitRacing for the body lift, but they didn't have anything for the Explorer. Where should I be looking?

You need to purchase Performance Accessories body lift number 883, I believe.. but not 100% sure on the part number. It's designed for a Ranger but you'll have to fabricate your own bumper brackets out of 1/4" or thicker steel plates.

ya 853 is the part number

2" lifts have different part numbers. :D

whoops....ok well those are the kit #'s for 3" body lifts.

Performance Accessories doesn't make a 2" body lift kit for the Ranger that will fit a Explorer. They only have the 3".

For 2" it's simpler, easier, cheaper, and better performing to do a suspension lift: torsion twist and warrior shackles and/or addaleaf.

guess we had to go to medical school to figure that one out....j/k Alec....how come no one else thought of that sooner
