Safety of lifted Explorers

yes you would be able to.
but you will need a wider wheel. 15x8 prob.

You guys are great! lots of ideas! thanks a ton.

So what i gathered so far is:

Fix everything else first to show responsibility (gotta fix the balljoints still lol)
Go with a wider tire when I get the 31s
Dont drive like an idiot
Explorers are very stable on the road when theyre lifted

all correct? And, would I be able to put on an aggressive 31x12.5 with just shackles/tt??

under extreme conditions your rear tires might rub at full compression or articulation. The 31x12.5 might look kind of goofy. Id sugest a 15x8 wheel with like a -19, 30mm offset with a 31x10.5 tire. Youd actually be able to fit a 32x11.5 with the TT and shackle no prob.

32x11.5 would fit? that would look sweet. Kinda need the best valued mud tire, any suggestions? Ive done lots of research, but theres so many. Since im 17 I dont have much money haha

Oh yeah, theyll fit. Keep in mind youll be a little further out of your gear range but not much more than 31s. Tires are so expensive its crazy. The BFG mud is s sick tire. I ran it for 3 years and it did well everywhere. Just have to be mellow on the street cause they are a softer compound. The pro comp extreme mud terrain is cool too.

I got a 94 EB with 33 12.5 r15 Maxxis Bighorns. Had to put a modded 2 1/2 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body. Gearing seens to be fine, haven't burned anything out yet. As far as rolling, it probaly would if I cornered it too much or just did anything stupid. Seems real stable to me but i don't drive crazy.

Wild country are decent tires. I had them on my truck for about 3 years with over 45k miles on them and they are still about half tread. I rotate my tires with every oil change to help them last longer. Plus if you take it easy on the street that will help.
You could also keep an eye on craigslist, thats were i got my 33's for a good price

Im gonna check those out... And update: My dad said no mudding or hes gonna sell my truck. Guess im screwed until I can prove that Im safe. He thinks im gonna destroy my axles with mud in them or something?? He said Explorers arent made for offroad... Maybe I should show him this site :D

might work,,show him this site and some of the rigs on here, that might show him that these things are safer than most people think,,
