Big White is going in for paint & install of the Saleen hood and wing. Anyone have any install advice or direction? I know holes must be drilled, etc for the wing. Just hoping someone who has been down the path might chime in with their experience.

Thanks in advance

I Jim, how's that Limited front bumper doing, and the armrest?

I haven't got my Saleen wing on yet either, I need to find a better truck without corrosion.

For a how to, hunt for TAZ's thread from about 2004 when he put one on his red Explorer. It was on the other Explorer forum, but a search might find it. He had good pictures of the work, etc. I have some pictures of his truck, and maybe a couple showing the holes in the hatch when the wing was put on. Regards,

Hey Don..... Been a long time. 94 was sold last year. Still have the arm rest stored since my visit to your place though... How have you been? I'll see if I can find TAZ's post. Can u PM your #? Wanted to call and catch up.

I've been busy, and unfortunately too busy for the projects. The 99 Limited I rebuilt about eight years ago was my last big deal, and I've got it in the garage to rebuild the trans. That's what I used my old 93 Limited body for, and now it's just a trusted spare SUV. I'll eventually make the small changes to it to make it fully a 99-01 truck, the rear hatch/bumper and tail lights. Then I'll paint it again cheap, to the 99-01 Limited dark green I've always liked. I recently bought a nice set of bigger 302 heads(180cc) to build a nice 302 for the truck, as a final touch(300hp). Just a fun DD spare truck for dirty jobs etc.

Here are the main pictures of the wing install Taz did. I don't recall if the text of his thread was a lot more helpful than these pictures. Regards,

Don, thanks for the pics. Didn't find much in regards to TAS posts. Alot of his photo links are dead (used his own private domain for hosting) Do you know if TAS is still around?

I think it is amazing what you did with your truck (from what I saw when I was over your way). You have a Mountaineer too right? What all have you done to it? Any links to some good photos of all the work you've done on it?

After I finish with the Saleen CF hood and spoiler on Big White I'm probably looking at buying some Saleen MagN wheels that I've spied up for sale. I've contemplated some other options but not sure what to go with. If I get the Saleens - I'll probably have them matched to the Pearl White of the truck. What do you all think about how that would look? My thing is I do not want the truck to be an XP8 clone. That is the reason I didn't pickup the bumpers and other ground effects. The hood and spoiler are just right enough touches where is can pass as something that might have come from the factory (ala special edition, etc). At the least it will be unique I think as I've never seen a pearl white limited with a Saleen Wing and CF Hood. With the rims, I am looking to stay going that direction as well.

You have the makings of a great looking truck Jim. The Pearl White on a Limited makes it stand out, and the XP8 hood and wing will be great touches.

I need to find a new 98-01 Mountaineer, without any rust, to build a truck as I was planning. I did locate the wheels which I hope will be able to fit the truck. I've been eyeing the Volk GTC wheels for 2-3 years, and being obsolete, finding a set used with good specs, and nice, is hard. What I have coming from Australia are 17x9" GTC's with 16+mm offset. They should clear the inner parts okay, but I see them coming out from the wheelwell a bit. I'm going to see what the rare thin wheelwell moldings came on, and how much they cost. I might need those, after I get the wheels to fit.

The Volk GTC wheels were made only for 12mm studded cars. I'm looking for a wheel rebuilder who is familiar with drilling the holes, and with the inserts that can go in them to remake the needed seat/depth/stud.

They need some care in cleanup, and to have the work done on the holes. The up side if the wheels clean up nicely and will fit, they only weigh about 21lbs each.

My old 18's I think are in the 30lbs range, the first tires I had on them made for a 72.5lbs total.

Stock 15's are only around the 53lbs mark. I hope the 275/55/17 tires I want will be in the 34lbs range or so, making the set 55lbs or so. That would be great to restore the original balance and performance. Regards,
