ok, hopefully these will be my last questions

1. what did you guys do for a brake line setup. i was going to use my SJ extended lines, but it doesnt look like they are going to be long enough. So i am thinking about doing stock F-150 style hard lines with the main line comming straight down from the frame to the pumpkin and then use my SJ lines from the end of the hard lines to the calipers. Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a try. Anyone have pics of there setup, or any ideas that i could use?

2. I didnt think of this in advance. What do i do about the pinion yoke? I went to hook the driveshaft back up and it's a different size. Are there different size yokes out there. Im sure there are, but where do i get my hands on one? Or will the one off of the D35 fit on the D44 pinion?

These are the last things stopping me from driving it again.

Thanks for the info fellas, you guys have been great so far. I couldnt have done this swap without you!!!

As far as the pinion goes the D44 should have come with a 1310 yoke, but it sounds like it may have come with something different. I think, you might be able to use the yoke off the D35 on the D44. Don't quote me on that though. It doesn't hurt to give it a try. If it doesn't work just get a 1310 yoke, they're cheap and plentiful.

you can eather have a 1310 or 1350 yoke on your dana 44. If you have a 1310 the driveshaft will bolt right up. The 44 has a 1350 then you need a conversion u joint. I believe the number is a 1330.

For brakelines, I went down to the local place that carries russel perfomance parts and built them up from there inventory. Cost about $80 for the front 2 lines.

did you do hard lines?

Just wondering what vehicle your front D44 came from? Cauz it sounds like you have a 1350 joint.

I was told it was a 79 Bronco

Should be a 1330 then... I was told 78's had 1310's and 79's had 1330's but mine is a 79 too, and it has a 1310. So mine must be a '78 then...I think

Here: Taken from Denny's driveshaft.

The "series" of a driveshaft or universal joint is determined by the actual dimensions of the u-joint. While the front and rear u-joint can be of two different sizes the shaft is only as strong as the smaller one. The 1310 series u-joint measures approximately 3 1/4 inches wide. The 1330 and 1350 both measure approximately 3 5/8 wide. The 1310 and 1330 series can have cap diameters of 1 1/16 and/or 1 1/8 inch or a combination of both sizes. The 1350 series has a cap diameter of 1 3/16 inch and the body and journals are bigger than the 1310 or 1330. Remember 1350 is almost never found in production car driveshafts.
