I found this web site

http://www.fuelmiser.com/bannerlanding.htm?AID=602610&PID=548038

Questions:

1. Has anyone on this board actually purchase this product?
2. If so, what were your results?
3. This thing appears to be nothing more than a magnet wrapped in a plastic housing. Wouldn’t securing a magnet to your fuel line do the same thing?

4. If this thing really worked, wouldn’t they advertise it on t.v.? I mean, if it really worked, and we were all confident that it really worked, wouldn’t we all have one on every car we own? Better yet, wouldn’t car manufactures put it on every car they make?

Hmmmmmmm…

I have seen something like this in a JC Whitney. What I think it does is break apart the fuel molecules which may "clump" together. IMO it should only work if you have gas sitting in your tank for a while. Plus think? save 25 cents a gallon. How does this work? you buy the gas at a price per gallon, this product does not change the price you purchase it for. I am not a science wiz, but I am a marketing major and this does not make sense.
I took a closer look at the site and this item sells for $100, the one I saw was like $19 so it may work better or just they rip you off more.

I think what they mean by saving x amount per gallon is that you get better gas mileage so each gallon goes farther. I think it's a crock.

I'm very skeptical too. I want to hear from anyone who actually used something like this to see if there was any change in mileage. I'm sure it doesn't work.

It's a bunch of hooey!!! I'm an engineer and a physicist and those 'mileage enhancers' don't work. All of them are a waste of money. What dannyboy said is what they claim, but it doesn't do a thing except break apart the money in your wallet. If they really worked, you would see all the car manufacturers going berserk over them. They take a beating on the gas guzzler penalties, and would gladly install something cheap to enhance the fuel mileage.

makes you wonder why they dont put on free flowing intakes and cat back systems!

Noise and money!! The soccer moms don't want to hear that motor purr, and a good mandrel bent exhaust has a much higher cost than what the manufacturer's put on. The whole exhaust probably has a cost of about $30 for the stock one, and about $60 for the mandrel bent. (I do a lot of work with the automotive industry)

This is why I like this site. There is such a diversity of knowledge here.

I figured it was a bunch of bull. Like I said at the beginning of this thread, if it really worked, why wouldn’t every car manufacture have one on each car they make?

Thanks guys.

Well if we get enough people interested lets do a test. Get ten guys to pitch in ten bucks and purchase one. Put it in an Explorer(perhaps mine) and then pay for all the test subjects gas for the summer then see the increase and decide if everyone else wants one(Hmm 11mpg *15% = maybe another mile per gallon) I'm game to "offer" my ex for science reasons

Wow, that's very generous of you.

Send me your $10.00 and I'll let you know when everyone else has paid their part and I'll order it then! It may take some time but I wont forget you!!!!!! Dead Link Removed

Beware....with gas prices doing nthing but going up, now is the time for all the scam artists and hucksters to come out of the woodwork with "miracle" mpg improvers.

Dannyboy

You're a marketing major alright, aren't you.

If you're serious, you're as bad as the hucksters selling the gadget.

You are right about that ! all the "snake oil" sellers are gonna be out in force this summer, once the Gas prices hit the 3 buck mark.

Any of you remember gasohol??? I remember using it in the late 70's. Wish they would bring it back. Burns cleaner and more efficiently than gasoline, should help the price, it's domestically produced, and the alcohol comes from corn (gee, like we don't grow much corn in this country)!!! 'Course my ExxonMobil stock would take a hit if it took off, but it's worth it.

Why did they stop using it? I remember it but I don’t remember why they stopped using it??????

That corn gas is coming back. the new E-85 fuel is 85% made from corn. Some Ford tauruses and ford rangers with the 3.0L V-6 run on that gas or on regular gas. Yopu can tell because on the side or the back there will be a little logo saying FFV (Flexable fuel vehicle)

Someone here said in the midwest they often mix corn alcohol with gas, whereas in the west and northeast they mix some other kind of alcohol with it...??...I don't know much about gas except that when the price of gas exceeds the price of a fifth of jack daniels I am going to start putting mr. jack in my truck. ehehe

In Phoenix half of the year we use a Gas/Alcohol blend and the other half of the year we use a Gas/Ether blend.

Both of the fuels suck in high performance engines.

Rhett, I think Wild Turkey may give you more miles per fifth (mpf}
hehe
