Section525 - SAS D44 - Page 2 (Finishing... maybe)

Thanks Dave! My first attempt was to get some tabs reaching out there. But it was about 6" to the hole. I could have made it work, but I'd rather just bend another one.

So I was supposed to be cleaning up the shop tonight.... but I got distracted with this ABS module/unit/POS.

But I finally got it ripped out and out of the way.

Here is the plan for the brake line routing.

Dad came over today and gave me a brake line flaring pep talk. So I should be good to go now. :p:

Along with the soft brake line in the center of the axle will be the ARB line and hydro assist lines. Bling bling. It'll look like this:

Although I think I'm tearing out the cruise control anyways.. since I've had a broken clockspring for 6 years.

Do you know if the brake lines convert to SAE somewhere down the line? I know they're metric at the master cylinder. Also, 37° or 45° flares? Seems like everything I read on PBB is 37°. But Pops found that odd and said automotive was typically 45°. He said 37° was found more in industrial hydraulic applications. Hmmm...

I used whatever flare comes with the HarborFreight flare tool doodad - which the little voice in the back of my head says 45°. And yeah 37° I think is the JIC standard - hydraulic stuff.

what is this "cruise control" thing you speak of?:p: Never came on mine:D

Not sure on the SAE part, but your repacing all of the front, and the rear is a single hard line till the gas tank, so you could just redo the end. I'm pretty sure 45* flare is what it is... Iremember having to make some.

I understand why you ripped out the ABS, I just didn't want to mess with certain things. I it ain't broke....:rolleyes: Thats why I leave the drivetrain alone for the most part...It's reliable...Sometimes I think the most reliable car I own. It just sits in the garage till I need it, then starts right up.:thumbsup:

That I did - but whats strange is the MC's fittings are like two sizes larger than normal (at least in my Explorer). So either I think I re-used the old ones or found a small section of adapter lines (from PepBoys or whatevs) with the right fittings, cut the line off and just used the fitting and flared it up. So I guess first test fit the fitting on the MC before flaring.

SAE is 45* double flare. JIC/AN is 37*.
 






Well, figure all this crap out so i can copy you and ditch my ABS stuff too.
