I have a question for those of you who have an aftermarket exhaust installed on your Explorers/Mountaineers,did you go through hell having it installed?
I have been to almost every major exhaust shop near me and have left each one with my muffler still sitting in my cargo area..Extremely frustrating to say the least. The vehicle is a 97 Mountaineer and the muffler is a Flowmaster 50 series suv with dual 2.25" inlets and one 3" outlet.Should not be much of a problem to get this installed but these shops seem to not want to be bothered by a little extra work.
I have been told that it is impossible to reduce exhaust pipe from 3" down to 2.25" or even 2.5" which I know isn't true and then they'll say 3" wont fit either, but there is plenty of room for that even thought it would probably be too much for my application. Also the inlets are not a perfect match in regards to how far apart they are from what is on my truck now...These people cant even bend pipe??? When the guy showed me that and said it wouldn't work because of that I almost fell over.
I need some recommendations on how to deal with these people.I really want to get this muffler installed as I have an exhaust leak on my stock setup that sounds like ass.Or,if you know of anyplace that has intelligent workers in the central new york or specifically Syracuse area I'd love to know about them
Thanks.
