Ok....Friday Feb 17th we'll be heading out after work (round'7pm) back out to Stossel Creek to do some exploring....gonna see if some of those old logging roads lead to those lakes on my gps. All are welcome to join. We will be returning Sunday afternoon/evening.

I can't commit yet but that looks like a good weekend from here.

from the small section of trail i've already run, its easy enough for a stocker, the hardest section being a hill climb that i made in 2wd (detroit in the rear, but with no wheel slipage).

the only issue is fuel....bring extra. with these kinds of trips, we never know how many miles we will traverse. it may be the 5 miles (as the crow flies) according to the gps, or it could be a 50 mile maze of old road not mapped. thats the fun.....you never know. for sure, we will have 3 winches, over 200 feet of strap, 3 air compressors, 1 mig welder, enough tools to rebuild an auto tranny, and enough beer to fill a small army (although, we do not drink until camp is set, nothing worse than being lost & drunk...another story for around the camp fire).

ps...kids are up to you, all already confirmed are leaving the childs at home for the convienence factor and for a mini-vacation.

How tight is the vegitation, will this be a scratch fest? just deciding whether to drive the X or the Duece.

The Duece is still stock but I'll put a couple tow hooks up front.

from what I already ran, i'd say very little scratching....the trails were fairly wide, but who knows what else is in store for us...might get really tight. if we find an old road, chances are it hasnt been touched in some time and would get tight with branches.

Scratching is not too much of an issue this time of year. Most of the weight (vegetation and sap) has gone bye bye so the limbs spring back where they belong. There are still them pesky evergreens to deal with however :p

Hmm I may also be available to play, but I do not want to commit yet as I know sometime around Valentines is my 8 year anniversary. Now if I could f'in remember what day it is :D

Time for some subtle questioning of the old lady I thinks......

Make that 4 winches, 260ft of strap, 4 air compressors, a chain saw and a couple of axes oh yeah, and no kid :D

I'll check in later this week for a meet-up location

We are meeting in Duvall at 8pm on friday the 17th. I think its the chevron, but I can't remember...has a liquer store inside. Confirmed is me...a jeep, a yota, a big dodge and ......who else?

I'm gonna pass on this one. You guys are going to FREEZE your arses off with the predicted weather coming in. Lows will likely be in the teens and highs only in the mid 20's

I really wanted to check it out up there. but I don't think I have enough sleeping bags to stay warm.

Yeah, I know I'm a wimp :o

I've got a -20 sleeping bag.....I'll be warm. A nice big camp fire, a little JD from the flask....all is well.

Poor Philcicle :D
Are you remembering that wonderfully warm campsite at Gallagher Head Lake??? :p

in case anyone was wondering....no. the roads might lead to the lakes, but they are all blocked or trenched....no way to get there legally. it sure was cold though.

I was wondering if you had thawed out yet ;) It got to 15 at my house.

just found out stossel and sultin are both officially closed now to all vehicles, shooting and camping. hefty fines and all....with patrols.

Grr I was going to go explorerize Sultin this summer :fire: Guess I'll just go play up above there and catch some fish in the Foss Lakes :o

hey Ryan, we'll need to hook up in a couple of weeks (around mid to late March) to take out my Ranger on a shake down run with Kevin. I don't have an exact date yet, but everyone is free to join me and DWD for a day trip somewhere in the area. As soon as the Navy pays me the money they owe me I'll have a better idea of time frame.

The EX-250 is ready. Planning a day trip on sunday the 19th to reider pit...found some fun trails i've never run before.

Sounds good. The ranger is going down to Drivelines NW tomorrow for driveshafts, then to the exhaust and alignment shops this weekend. I just need to wait a couple of days until my compressor arrives to install and finish up some my roll bar and some other small things.

sounds good show...we'll have a bunch of rigs up there so it'll be fun.

dreamy....i believe sultin and stossel are still open for day use hiking, but i doubt fishing is allowed up there.
