Is there such a thing and, if so, then where can I get one? I'd prefer the electronic improver but the internal improver would be fine. I tried searching but couldn't find one for the 5 spd. auto.

That's the one I have and many members have that on their 5R55E. Dunno why they removed Explorers from the application list, but it used to be listed.

EDIT: Summit still has that part listed for the Explorer, same part #. It says just for the 4R, but it will work for the 5R too.

EDIT again: Truckperformance.com has it for $30.

So the 4R kit works for the 5R ?

B&M said it wouldn't and they didn't plan on making one for the 5R anytime soon.

I didn't know it would work.. but if other members have this kit in there 5R's, now I'll do a little more searching...

Damit... here's a perfect example of this site costing me more money...
:D :D :D

Not that I mind:D :D

Thank's Alec..

Hello all !! I am new here, really enjoy the posts! So... what is the verdict ?? will it work for the 5speed auto trans or not ?? I would like to get one if it does.

It works. I just put mine in 2 days ago. I Love it... It only took 15mins to do..

Hey thx SAPOGMXR. Where did you get yours ?

sapogmxr..... what did you notice acted differently....? will this really help prolong tranny life? seems to me if you are squeezing out more, it takes a little to get a little.

I got mine from http://www.truckperformance.com/pro...2=1997&sf4=VEHICLE+SPECIFIC+KITS&sf3=EXPLORER
It shifts harder. If feels like it has alot of power behind it. I do believe that this can prolong tranny life because it is taking the stress off of your bands in your tranny. They are what makes the tranny shift nice and smoothly. Using this product will stop it from shifting soft like stock does. It also lessins the amount of heat your trans is making. Heat is the number one cause of failing transmissions. If you get it just make sure if your gonna leave it on all the time leave it on the first setting. There are two settings. The first is for street. The second is for race. -"If you were to drive around with the second turned on all the time it may damage your Transmision pump." That bit of info came from b&m.
I hope this helps you guys.

Since I have a rebuilt tranny with internal goodies I leave the BM electric improver on the stock setting most of the time. I don't use the first setting anymore. However, putting it on the second setting takes a few tenths off my 1/4 mile.
