Hello I'm a new member I have a 1994 explorer XL. I would like to know of there is a conversion of some kind that would allow be to put a shift lever in place of the solenoid to shift the transfer case in and out of four wheel drive. It already has locking hubs. Its a very basic model with no power any thing only option it has is cruise control. Hand crank windows and all.

If you do a search you can find a picture of a setup like this. It's not a lever though, it's a knob. It uses a flex shaft, attached to the shaft in the x-fer case. Turn the knob to select where it goes. It's a way around the electric shift but I don't like it all that much. If you're having problems with your electric shift look up how to clean the shift motor, it's a very common issue and can be solved very easily.
