Shifting Problems

When I am driving it will shift into one gear but the next one sticks and some time it is the first gear and some times not at all.

Can you be a little more specific? Saying "it shifts into one gear but the next one sticks" is a little confusing. It's probably just me being a little stupid, but a more detailed description would be helpful. Thanks.

well some time it sifts into the gears fine than sometimes it will sift into first than stick going in to second and sometimes it sticks in first

I'm assuming you have a 99? How many miles on it ? V-6 or V-8? Last fluid change? how does the fluid look? Smell? When it "sticks in 1st" does it eventually shift up to 2nd? What is the RPM when this happens? Notice more when hot or cold? When it sticks in 2nd, is it like in 1st? When it does shift up after sticking (assuming it does) what is the shift like... soft and sloppy or harsh?

Sorry to ask so many questions but it seems the best way to get info I can use.
