Great site! I have some basic questions I need some opinions on. I'm looking to put together a decent back-country machine but I'm not ready moneywise to build a beast. Here are my basic plans and upgrades:

91-94 Explorer
Locker in back
2" Body Lift
2-3" Suspension Lift
31 x 10.5 tires

Wish List:
Locker in front
winch and bumper setup
Roof-rack, lights, cb and other goodies

NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS:

Automatic or Manual?
2dr or 4dr?
Remove swaybars for more travel?
Manual hubs?

Thanks for any input!

That ALOT of lift for only 31" tires. I ran a spacer/aal lift (less than 2"s) and never had any issue with rubbing, and there are more than a few guys here that run no lift and 31"s.

1) I have a manual, I like it but it is more of a challenge to use offroad

2) Depends on your taste, you can get a manual in 2 and 4 door models

3) Remove or make quick disconnects for your sway bars

4) Manual hubs are much stronger and more reliable that the autos (which are very prone to breaking).

Thanks for the reply. The suspension lift would come first and would most likely be 2" with the 31's.

Is there some type of clearance chart on this site? i.e. tires-to-diff clearance?

welcome
