shorter belt, HELP?
ok, i did a search for this, and only saw it discussed once with no real out come. my ac hasn't been used for two years and is electrically disconnected. after this weekends dirt and sand from the pre-t-haven run, the motor is making terrible noise like it's bearings are shot. I sprayed some WD-40 on it and it lessoned the noise, but when it dried out, it was loud again. it smells hot, and I'm afraid it's gonna seize and the belt is gonna go. now, my question, has anyone bought a shorter belt and just skipped the ac? if so, what length of belt? please help, my ac system is shot, and I really don't want to buy a new compressor that i'm not going to use.
