I was just wondering, if I leave my windows down and lock my car, if someone opens it from the inside, should the alarm go off? Thanks

It depends how long. after a while if my windows are all the way down and I try to open a door the alarm goes off. I think 30 seconds is how long it takes for the alarm to engage.

Why leave the windows down?

So the inside isnt like an oven when you get in. I left mine closed overnight and when I got in this morning in the 90 degree heat I was sweating by the time I got to the end of the driveway.

Man- I'd rather roll the windows down a few minutes before I leave than leave my truck open all night. The alarm should go off, but they can always just reach or crawl in and then you're in trouble. Alarms for the most part anymore only keep honest people out.

^I usually do that because lately I never know when its going to rain, and getting into a puddle of water on the seat isnt fun. If you crack the windows about an inch or two it will keep the car cool while your parked at a store and no one can reach their hand in.

I understand why one would want the window down, but if worried about someone stealing it, then leave them up. I have a black on black Ex so I understand the heat issues, but I won't leave my windows down. Just roll them down when I leave and it cools off quickly.

IDK about Kansas but in NJ it very very humid, I think it was at 100% today. Makes a huge difference outside. I wish you could roll down the windows using the fob like you can in other cars.

I didn't know you could roll the windows down with any car using the key fob?(if that's what you meant, kinda cool:)) Kansas does get very humid here, it's currently 72 degrees with an 88% humidity. I guess for me is that I work outside all day so I am used to the heat?

There are aftermarket alarms that feature that function... Maybe that could be a safer solution?

Yeah, I saw a guy with a passat do it at target on saturday. I think it is a feature of some hondas and the new equinox, not sure about those though.

You can buy a rullup module and add it to your keyless, or to the alarm if you have one, there are some that have a vent function where it opens the window a couple of inches, the others will roll down your windows completely.

On my 97 when I press the "arm" button, both windows close, I could wire another module so that on "dis-arm" the windows either roll down completely, or just vent

That would actually be nice to add to the explorer.

On a hot summer day, walking to the ex just hit the remote start butting on the key fob. The computer recognizes the outside temp and the windows automatically roll down with the AC blasting. Guy walks by, notices the running vehicle with no one in it and jumps in. Drops it into gear and the car dies because you need the key in the ignition in order to drive off;) You see this happening and run towards the car just as he tries to escape, BAM!!!! Knocked his a** out and what for the cops:D

I really wouldn't mind having a feature like that. But having seats that will shock you like in Robocop 1? wouldn't be a bad idea either.

My stepdad's 07 mini cooper S vert, lets him roll down the windows, vent the roof, or open all the windows and drop the top all from his keyfob.

The main reason I asked was just out of curiosity, my old 99 Pontiac did it but my 03 explorer doesn't. It just opens right up. When parked my windows are usually closed or just barely cracked but the other day in my driveway they were wide open and i just reached in to open it and the alarm didn't sound which perplexed me.

What kind of alarm do you have? Just FYI Ford did not offer an alarm system, it´s just a keyless entry, if you´re talking about that one...

Yeah i guess thats all i got..haha. The factory system, whatever that is.

Hit the lock 2 times so it honks the horn then i think it will sound as you describe above
