Should the hatch glass pop open with the remote?

When using the remote to pop the back glass, should it actually open up or just release? A few times mine has opened all the way up which I love, but most of the time it just unlocks and doesn't flip up.

It should just pop unlocked. The opening was most likely caused by hot ambient temps pressurizing the gas in the lift cylinders making them push a little harder.
