Side mirror bracket

Just broke the mirror and mounting bracket off of the passenger side of my 2000 Explorer. The housing is fine, I just want to get the mounting bracket for the glass. Dealer says I need to buy the whole housing. I did a search on the forum here (395 matches) but didn't see anything about JUST the mounting bracket (non heated, lights, etc, just remote). Is it available? Used? What year is compatable with a 2000 xls? Are Ranger and Mountaineer parts the same? It just seems odd that you cant get a simple 5/7 piece of plastic without spending 100+ for the whole housing. Thanks in advance for any help

I had a similar problem, my dealer sent me to a glass shop who could get individual pieces, rather than the whole assembly.

I had to buy the entire housing with mirror. Dealer parts guy said they used to sell just the mirror, but had too many problems with folks coming back with complaints about mirror vibration. Well, my mirror vibrates anyway. Annoying, but I guess I have to live with it.

I got one on Ebay much cheaper than the dealer. Or check a junk yard.
