Simple battery question

I was wondering if corroded battery cables would cause the battery to lose its charge, and if I recharged it, would it be okay? Its a few years old.

If the cables are corroded, then the battery might not be getting the proper amount of charge. It's not losing a charge because of corrosion.

yes it should be fine but make sure to undo the pos term before you work on it and I would check the cells if possible,use distilled water .
