My shifter on the steering column has become sloppy lately, sloppy enough that it didn't fully engage into park, and the truck would roll.
I was going to do linkage adjustments, possibly buy a new shifter cable, but decided to do a search.

there is a thread I found that explains how to fix, so I threw up a new post in this forum with link to it
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3164131#post3164131

there is a youtube video in that thread ( http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...=iW170pxW508&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13710669233319 ), watch video and everything becomes clear.

so the previous video link doesn't work, here's a link that may work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKqiDy_Po2M

edit:
As a sidenote, since the truck wasn't going into park fully, I also had intermittent starting issues. First time I shifted into neutral to start it, then figured out what was happening.

edit 2:
the screw backed out again so I used red Loctite

I have the EXACT same thing going on with my 01 Sport Trac. Wouldn't start one day, and realized it wasn't fully in park. Then that same day, it almost rolled down a hill after putting it in park. I've been using the parking brake religiously since then! I'll check out the link and video. Thank you!
