i need help with my moms explorer, she was driving it to work when the radio cut out, a few seconds later smoke started coming from behind the dash, she quick turned off the radio and the heat and the smoke stopped.

What would cause this? no fuses blew, though i think one should of. We need help, this is one of our main vehicles.

Thank you for your time and info!!!!!!!

Found the problem.... i pulled off the center dash, looked around, pulled out the radio, smelled it... it smelled bad, took the radio inside, opened it up, saw a chip was cracked inhalf and there was burns around it, found the problem..... time for a new radio.

I figured i would just go to a junk yard and yank one, thank you all for the help, it is great to know there are people out there willing to help the confused folk.
