Smoking the Tires

oh, didn't know that man. I wonder how heavy the awd components are? i wonder if the same truck would be faster or slower with the awd over the 2wd. i'm sure stock the 2wd would be faster, but when you start getting more power there might be a change over?
i figure the AWD will definatly launch harder due to little/no wheel spin, even with a charger/cam/whatever. just a rough guess-timate; the AWD is 'bout 200-300 lbs. heavier. if you wanna compare, mine is 4120 on the scales with a full tank and no driver. so, you have advantage of hooking up, i have advantage of lighter truck. after seeing Troll's video its obvious that you can make a 2wd x hook up; he almost pulled the front tires off the ground when he launched. but, he was on like 28x10.50 slicks, too.

I have a 96' Xlt with Limited slip and 3.73 and couldn't spin tire to save my life unless it is wet, which doesn't count. Neither does the bleach. Anything can light the tires up when its wet.

I can pretty much spinn my tires from a stop light all the way through the intersection. I don't know if my exhaust helps with this but it didn't used to be able to do that and my tires are brand new.

Oh, that's an appropriate place for this type of activity :p

Hey i keep hearing about this troll fella and i went to a few threads that were discussing his X. where could i see a picture of his x at and i heard some guy talking of a video of it? where could i see that at? thanks.

I spent 700 bucks on my swampers. i think i will stick to spinnin my moms tires

I don't smoke the tires, or even spin them on pavement(I can rarely get it to spin on dry pavement) however, nothing is more fun than doughnuts in a gravel parking lot...even in an X, that thing can rip around real good..

you can see pics at www.speedfreak.cc the page is old, and the troll has a lot more mods now and a LOT more horsepower.

to see the video at the track, click this link and scroll down the page. harry posted them (it's the 5th post from the bottom): http://208.38.138.31/forums/showthr...ge=25&highlight=roll cage brakes&pagenumber=3

That TROLL truck kicks a$$. 1/4 mile, 11.8 sec, 117mph. That is incredible. And it looks like a daily driver. WOW

I want to spin my tires but I really can't do it. Plus I just got new tires ($401) so I'm not spinning them.
By the way, it seems that my car is slower with the new tires (same size) is this normal??
Keep them smoking:D

Is is the Chevy Express van? My friend has one of those and its fast as hell. He can pull some sweet burnouts and fishtails with it.

it is his daily driver. no weight reduction, it still has the stock interior. and the 11.8 seconds is with him hitting the brakes...
he didnt have a roll cage so he had to slow down or they would kick him out (after he ran 11.6 they kicked him out anyway).

yea, and that was without using nos either. there is no doubt with nos and not sandbagging it he will run 10's.

I agree. Its fun and I feel like I'm not tearing up my X. I don't really know if I'm tearing it up but I feel like I'm not. WHo knows?

I'm not sure. I just know it was huge and had curtains in the windows

how many of you with the V6 4.0L's can stomp it and spin? is it just me? like on a corner i can easily turn the wheel stomp it and spin the back end around, even enough to have to let off the gas when i dont over steer enough, but when im going straight on a dry day on paved roads and i floor it just chirps(different amounts depending on tire pressure) but i cant peel out and i want to, i just turned 16 and have been spinning my explorer for about a year now and now that i am 16 its actually mine not my moms so i will be jumping right into swiss cheesing my airbox and getting the slack out of the throttle cable, will that help for burnouts?

Easy there, little buddy. You're a prime cop target now, so be careful with whatever you're doing

Watch it cops in the boondocks have nothing better todo than pull people over and give them a hard time i can attest to that. It seems to be if youre under the age of 30 cops will give you a hard time.

not when a cop is your neighbour and he happens to be your dads friend who let u drive his squad car:D
