So I installed half my lift...& now the other half...

I was able to get a hold of some airtools & went ahead & decided not to pay the $$ to have my Skyjacker 2" installed. This Saturtday was the rear, next Saturday will be the front. Rear install was 4.5 hours by myself. After an hour trying to get the new upper shock mount into the new shocks. Then relizing after the fact the shock boots wouldn't fit over them & had to take them out & put back in again :fire: I also cut the old leaf spring bolts off with a cut off wheel. They would not budge otherwise.

Now to some questions...
WIll I damage anything by driving my X with the rear lifted & not the front?
The ride seems VERY stiff. Could this just be the difference between the rear being lifted & the front not?
How do you know if the shocks are bottoming out? I got Pro Comp ES9000's all around. When I go over speed bumps in my complex the rear bounces down VERY HARD over them. They are for stock height, but Pro Comp claims they will fit stock to 2"s of lift. My fear is I'm getting more then that with the add a leafs cause I had no rear end sag before.
I had the same setup on my old Bronco II & don't remember the rear ever being that stiff.

add a leafs are stiff.
they will sag a little
If you have the 9000's try adjusting them softer

You dont need shock boots :)

You wont hurt it with the rear lifted 2"
You dont need new shocks for a add a leaf

When its all done get an alignment

Good job!
Stock leaf spring bolts dont move, they should be cut, its MUCH easier..

Procomp 9000's arent adjustable.

like 410 said your stiffness if from the add a leaf. get rid of it and order some 2 inch leaf springs.

or shackles

true, and that would be a heck of a lot cheaper.

With my shock mount problems fixed I put on the front springs & shocks. Thanks to DB_1, & RangerX for suggesting taking the front sway bar off. The springs were so easy to get out/in after that :) Those spring nuts are a major PITA to get out. ANYONE who does this be warned! Took me forever to get them off. After they are off they are very easy to tighten back down...that's a plus. Had some problems getting the lower spring mounts to line up right. Other then these few things, it wasn't too hard at all. I took a short spin just to make sure things were ok. It felt good, no noises, or shaking, tracked straight. I stil need to get the alignment. That will be in a few days. It's parked so I'm not driving it.

Here's something...The camber doesn't look that off at all. I'm wondering if I will need the new shims installed. When I did this lift on my old Bronco II only one side needed the new cam. Guess I'll see what the shop says.

Thanks to the members of this board who have helped me!
