So....why won't the caliper fit over the rotor? Need Help ASAP

morrisey, thanks for answering.

The pedal stays soft until I turn the truck off. As soon as I turn the truck off and pump the pedal a couple times the brakes get hard again.

Jason, when you say soft, you mean normal soft braking? Or soft to the floor? I don't mean to sound dumb, just trying to see the whole picture in my head. You may hear it bouncing around from there!

Sorry, I meant all the way to the floor with not nearly as much resistance as it had before I did the brake job.

Jason, I'm stretching for clues here. After you push pedal to floor, with it running, turn engine off, unscrew reservoir cap, and look at bottom of cap. Does the cap look like, excuse my language, a packaged condom? Or is the rubber on the bottom of the cap poofed out?

Anyone with better ideas, please jump in about now...

The bottom of the cap?
Or do you mean the thingy at the bottom of the reservoir?

Jason, the bottom of the cap. It is rubber with multiple circles on it. When flat (normal) only a (excuse me again) condom sized ring should stick out. And the fluid level should be near the rim of the reservoir.

Morrisey, you are correct. Only the thick ring sticks out.

Jason, you got my curiosity up, so I went out to my '95 and checked it out, guess what? Mine does the same thing, I think it's normal. When running, with every pump, I lose more pedal until on the floor ( a lot of ssshhh). When not running, it starts soft, then gets hard.

I think we just never sit still and pump brakes, so it seems abnormal. I think you're good. Go for a test drive.

morrisey, you know what? you're absolutely right!! :bounce:

IT works great! Now for the other side........

Jason, glad I could help. Even though I didn't and you were OK all the time.

BTW, it's Robb morrisey0 is my universal username picked 6 years ago. I keep it so I don't forget any other names

Well thanks Robb!

You're a good troubleshooter even if it was fixed the whole time.
