Hi All!

I bought a reman'd shift solenoid for my 05 Mountaineer.

The directions say to submerge it in ATF for 30 mins before installation.

Do you submerge the entire unit, including the electrical connectors?

Thanks!

First time I have ever heard of this

It won’t hurt it to completely
Submerge no…but normally I just dip them or wet the o rings and install, never in my
Life have I heard of soaking a shift solenoid for 30 minutes? Very odd

They usually say to soak the clutch plates since they are made out of some sort of paper/fiber material. Is it a single solenoid or a solenoid block? The solenoid doesn't absorb fluid like fiber or paper so I don't see how soaking it will do anything. Which brand is the solenoid?

It's the whole solenoid block that unbolts from the valve body.

As far as brand, it's Ford OEM rebuilt. I don't mind soaking it, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't create an issue with the connectors.

UPDATE:

I installed the reman'd solenoid and valve body. Harsh shifting is gone, as well as delayed reverse but shifting into D, the transmission makes a sound, almost like an electric parking brake.

Also shifting 2 to 3, it makes a grinding sound. No codes thrown.

These symptoms were not present before I installed the parts.

Any idea if it's related to solenoid or VB? Or is this coincidentally a different problem? Any help would be great! Thanks!
