Oh please, Colin. We only need two vehicles to make it a run. I'm one. ;)
And we don't really need to know where we're going until we're pulling out of the driveway!
Corral Canyon should only be 2 hours from your house.

How come you guys always pick trails that are so far away from me? :(

Guess I'll just go wheeling by myself :p

So whats the wheeling like up at hungry valley then. Its the only place I know of that is somewhat close to you. Might make a nice weekend trip sometime if it is good wheeling.

There's only one real trail up there for 4x4s, and it's just okay. The rest is 2-stroke zone.

Lets see we've got:

Rowher flats: Rower trail & lookout trail
Rowher used to be challenging but doable stock, but sopposedly its gotten more interesting since the rain. This is also the normal trail John and I do on our midnight wheeling trips. Lookout has a couple long, loose rock climbs making a locker necesarry.

Drinkwater flats: Deer trail & house trail
This area has been closed for the past 2 or 3 years due to the last fire we had. It just re-opened so theres no telling what its like these days. Both were challenging stock before they closed.

Hungry Valley: Mostly 2-strokes and prerunner stuff. Though some of the 2-stroke trails can be fun. ;)

Miller Jeep trail may be open by now. Its an all-day trail that starts up in frazier park and ends up in Hungry valley. It was not very difficult last time we ran it, but it has some great scenery.

We could definitly make a whole day out of the stuff up here. I soppose a weekend could be doable also if we ran drinkwater & rowher one day, camped at hungry valley and ran miller the next day.

Okay, how about a day trip on the 24th (Sunday)????? We could all meet at the vista point on I-8 E/B east of Alpine at early AM. We could even meet at the Carl's Jr. parking lot just east of I-15 off of Carrol Canyon Rd. (about 15-20 minutes south of Escondido), then all caravan down. Then we could hit Corral Canyon and do some wheelin'???????

We could do Bronco Peak and Sidewinder as they are both off the same main trail and close together. According to my guide book, they are the two most difficult trails in that area, and should only take about three hours for both. If we have time, we can go east on I-8 to In-Ko-Pa and hit Smugglers Cave/Elliot Mine trail for a few more hours, then back home. I have been through that area, but in Valley of the Moon, which is now closed due to alien smuggling through there (I still haven't figured out why Anza Borrego State Park would close a trail to everyone but smugglers, but what do I know about it anyway??), which is not too hard, but one of the most scenic trails in Southern California.

Or...we could meet of the Buckman Springs exit at the park and ride, since that is the off-ramp to the trails. Then do Sidewinder, Bronco Peak and Los Pinos Lookout trails, as all three are off the same main trail and make a loop back to Corral Canyon Rd., then if we have time, we could hit Smugglers Cave.

What ever you guys deside, but I just have one word to say....

Locked! :D

Brian, that Sunday works for me. Any of those trail combos would be good, except Bronco Peak may still be closed at that time.

I was still thinking we could do one last T-haven run before the heat kicks in but sounds like Brian and Jefe have a good game plan, but which one...decisions, decisions. I'd like to check out Cleghorn rd trails again if its open. It's off the 15 as you go up the pass near Wrightwood and it's nothing real difficult but interesting and scenic. The trail runs along the ridgeline of the mtn and you end up on hwy 134 (i think thats the one) near Silverwood lake. It's good for 2-3 hours of fun so this would probably be a good warm up if we did a Big Bear run since it's so close...just a thought.

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.......................................Lets wheel!

Come on, someone decide so I don't have too.... ;)

If Bronco is still closed, we should be able to do the Sidewinder, Los Pinos and Smugglers Cave in one day.

Cleghorn is a fun trail, it's all uphill! I'd go there again, but I vote for Corral, etc on that Sunday.

We got two diferent threads goin here, I'm open just need a little notice so I know when I have to have the sliders done by.
