I have a 95' Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 and I was wondering. I bought a manual today and it states something about a ohv (pushrod) engine and a sohc. Could someone tell me what the differences between the two are and how I would tell what my motor is exactly. Shouldn't it say somewhere on the motor? As you can tell I am not a gear head but a weekend mechanic. Thanks in advance.

since yours is a 95 you have the pushrod ohv. the sohc didnt come out until 97. A pushrod engine uses one camshaft in the block and uses pushrods to push on the rocker arm that opens the valve. a single overhead cam engine uses one cam per head. the cam is located in the head so no push rods are needed.

cool..

ahh i see.. thanks for the quick reply.. that makes things easier.. now I know which section to read.. lol:D
