which is better? i have a 98 SOHC, what kind of horsepower am i looking at? i know what SOHC means, what does OHV mean, and what do they both "mean" specifically.

The OHV makes 155-160 (dept on year)
The SOHC makes ~205-210 (dept on year)

OHV: overhead valve?

I think the diff between the two is where the cam is located and how it actuates the valves and injectors.

I'm probably wrong, though.

Thumbs up for the OHV!! Two thumbs up for the SOHC! I drive a 95` so I have a V6 OHV (Overhead Valve) I love it, it works hard for me, and I really, really push it!! It's German made, so that makes me feel a lot better regarding reliability! As for the SOHC, I have driven one, nice power, just not sure about the whole reliability thing, heard about some cam problems.... but anyway!

Alec, you got all the information straight, don't see a flaw in logic!!
