I need a project for school that is a big job, very challenging, and takes atleast 24 hours to do..I was thinking of doing a sas on my explorer for my project. But i'm not sure if it's even possible. I know it will be hell of hard cause iv done swaps before on other trucks. But i just wanted to know if it even possible to do that with the way our frames are designed?????

Looking at this picture, I think it's possible. It might have to be pretty high though, without frame mods.

I think a linked system would probably be the easiest to do, because you could probably use the stock strut locations to make a coil bucket and mount a shock up there. You could fab some leaf spring hangers and shackles too, and I'm sure either way will take more than 24 hours. :)

I'm sure there are a ton of people who would love to see this happen. Good luck with what you decide.

I think it would work, but like already stated the frame on the 3rd gens are a ton lower than previous generations. That's why they had to make a "porthole" in the frame for the axle shaft to go through. Good luck, and go for it!

This may seem like an odd question, but why a SAS? More beneficial in off-roading?

what about building a long arm kit with more travel for the back , they could hook up to the frame rail on the other side , maybe a drop kit so the whole diff and all moves down 4 inches, to fit 35 inch tires, , i looked at the picture and i had an idea, but can't do the paint thing to show it,,

hey this could even be a use for some RoadBully type spacers, , but in 7 inch size,,

I'm actually in the process of making a long travel setup for my Ex, that I will use my spacers with as well, until I can afford to pick up a set of King Shocks coilovers for 2k per set.

Not yet, i'll start up a thread once a get some of the pieces put together.

I may sound stupid but whats a long travel setup?

I'm not sure, I've never heard of a long arm setup..
I'm looking to get more travel as well as more lift out of the truck if you're wondering about my "long travel setup" ;)
Stock, or trucks only have about 2-3 inches of travel, I'd like to raise that to at least 8-10.

the arms would be altered to make them alot longer , with the anchor points further away from the usual points, allowing more movement, but using a shorter coil over shock to save buying a more expensive one,

Speaking of which, I've gotta get my longer axles ordered soon as well...
