I really like this idea, it looks good, plus you are not intruding on anybody space, or drilling any needed holes. What model is that CB BTW, I might have to take a look at getting one of those, I was looking to buy a Striker? I believe is how it is spelled. but I am unsure if it fits, also does this one have an external speaker?

Edit, read the picture to find out that it is a Galaxy DX 979. I also was reading a very good review about it, and found that it does in fact have an external speaker output, so I am set there. one question is though, what do you suggest for a low priced reliable speaker? I used to have one, but it is long gone now.

ill look at mine later but there are a few others that i many use. two things to look for is talk back ( if you want it )(TalkBack allows you to hear yourself thru the Speaker while transmitting) and Noise Filter ( this is a must for when your close to some one and get alot of back ground noise such as a car radio etc..) heres two links to the ones i use the most http://www.amazon.com/External-Spea...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327626188&sr=1-14

and ill see what one ive got now its not bad it was one that i got as a test and works out good for me . the 2nd link is the old kind i had on my cb and then moved to my radar detector and that made it nice and loud with radio and cb on and chatting away i can cleary hear it beep.

that one in the dash is super slick, i really like that idea but i would have to buy an after market deck plus find one that would work with my steering wheel controls, i cant give them up haha they are so nice to use

You are just lucky you don't have the rear controls for the radio, like I do. I am not sure what I am going to do about those.

and bauer i have the rear deal as well its just a plug on the pigtail with an aftermarket you jou have to hook up the one pulg and just let the other one hang there in the dash behind the radio and i have no troubble from it that way

That is what I figured, well at least when I do that my friends cannot mess with my music. If I have enough time this summer I may just take out all the controls for the audio portion, and just leave the rear heat/ac controls there in a special control panel. For some reason useless buttons bother me...

ok yeah the ac still works on mine but not the radio lol and i just left it as is thanking of getting a havis to put in there just have to mus. up frist dont want to get the wrong size got to make sure itll fit the x on the frist time

(NOTICE: 10-Meter Radios are intended for use by amateur radio operators only. A license from the FCC is required. !!!!)make sure that a good cb shop or where you buy it from makes sure that it can be or is set up to use as a cb or if the fcc gets you lots of fun and money gone been there before.

Here's my Uniden Pro510XL in my '03 Sport Trac. It's out of the way and the speaker isn't blocked. I'mm 6'6" and my legs have never hit it, I crawl out of the passenger side door all the time when I park at the Food Bank I volunteer at (park up against a wall) and never hit it doing that either.

That's why I went with the Uniden. I have plenty of BIG radio's from my OTR driving days but don't use them anymore since space is confined in the interior. Hell I still have a Wilson 2000 3500 watt antenna still in the package I never used. I'm planning on putting all my radio stuff for sell on here and a couple other places whenever I go through all my boxes and find everything.

I like the idea of having it down beside my leg but im doing the 4406 manual swap and soon there will be a stick in the way! im excited

rabbit thats godd i didnt have mine at the time and they took my General Lee radio from me ( lost 1500$ total of the radio with all the upgades i had ive just stayed with cb's since but im thinking of going to get my amateur licence and go back to the good higher power again lol
