Some wax questions

Technical information for paint/trim/wheels from a Ford supplier

I am on the Autopia forum quite a bit and saw the post by bump.

Am often on Ford Diesel as well as several detailing forums.

Came over to let you all know that as my company is a supplier of car care products to Ford as well as GM, DCX and 5 import manufacturers, we work directly with their engineering groups regarding some of the concerns you may have with your finish, the coatings on your wheels, trim discoloring, interior fabrics and leathers, etc.

We have on our site under the OEM/TSB section the Ford Tech Tips that are normally only available to dealers, but since we aid Ford in writting and preparing these tips are allowed to have them on our site.

Additionally, there some photos and explainations of paint and trim concerns on the Tech Tips Section of the site. Many provided by other suppliers to Ford such as PPG etc.

Think you will find these very interesting, but I forewarn you, it take some time to go through all of the information and a lot of reading to understand the text.

There are also under Magazine Articles, professional technical pieces that were published in professional car care publications.
These are not your normal "fluff" pieces you find in enthusists magazines, but factual information derived from sources such as ASE, SAE, etc.

You may find the information at www.autoint.com

Good luck and enjoy.

Zaino wax is the best! www.zainobros.com

Will only cost you about 30 bucks for the necessities. I bought Z-1, Z-2, Z-5, Z-6, and a polishing cloth and spent about 50 some dollars. The wax will last a LONG time!! Show car look! WET look! No "elbow grease" needed! Literally wipe on and wipe off!

Just use 100% cotton bath towels. Cannon and/or Fieldcrest are the best. Other brand names aren't 100% cotton even though they say they are. Just remove the stitches from the towels and you will have the show car shine just like the pros! My first wax job got me all excited but after the 3rd coat with a little z-6 afterwards and I just wanted to sit back and stare. Truely incredible stuff!

Gary definately summed it up correctly; there is simply nothing out there, at any price, to compare with the Zaino products.

To be come a believer, simply give it a try. The application is so easy it should be illeagle.

Shino on....

where did you get the zaino so cheap?
i thought it was at least 100$

OK89,

go to www.zainobros.com

you will NEED Z-1 $8.95
you will NEED Z-2 or Z-3 (clear coat or regular coat) $12.95

That's really the necessities! 22 bucks!

Z-5 is for scratched and swirl marks. You may or may not need.
Z-6 is strongly recommended as this is what gives the "wet" look but dry to the touch. $9.95

They do recommend clay bar which removes everything from your paint. Old wax, raildust, treesap, bug guts, and so on. This costs $16.95 and is well worth it. I just had my vehicle painted so I didnt really feel the need to buy it. I have heard that the clay bar can be a bit of work to take off. But after that everything is literally wipe on and wipe off!

Hope all this helps!

I have never used the clay bar. The Z6 is definately worth it.

Shin on....

Well, I tried the Nu Finish today even though I planned not to, and for teh price I paid, you cant beat the job it does. Blows Turtle Wax out of the water. I spent about 5 hours today detailing, and the NuFinish works pretty good. For 5 dollars I didnt expect it to do much, but I was wrong. Its not the absolute BEST, but its good. I might try Klasse (hot item at Autopia) or Zaino next go-round, and use the NuFinish on our other vehicles. I took some pics, but it'll be a while before they're up.

You said that you spent 5 hours? Wow. I can do my entire Explorer with Zaino in less than an hour ( and I don't work real fast :) ).

The $5 wax is no bargin if you factor in your time. I work for well over $100 per hour.

Shino on....

Well, I didnt spend 5 hours on wax alone, I washed, dried, put protectant on the trim, washed and polished all the windows. And after I'd apply the wax I'd mess around for a while to let it dry. Trust me, I can do a whole job in alot less than 5 hours ;)

I was out cleaning the air filter today, and I saw a can of stuff on a shelf that hadnt been touched for a while. Its been setting there for a while but I never bothered to check out what it was. It was Eagle 1 Nevr-Dull! And a new can too! My dad must have got it for me and forgot to tell me about it or something. Its like white cotton candy, its this fluffy material taht you tear a chunk out of, and it polishes chromes and metals and things like that. I tried it on the gold exhaust tip, the chrome 'Explorer' tag, the chrome hubs on the wheels, and anything else that had chrome. This stuff is great!!! I'd recommend it to anyone that has alot of shiny things on their vehicle. Its sweet!! I couldnt get over how great it looked. Check it out sometime.

yes...nevr-dull is a very good product. (cough-cough) zaino does chrome, windows, and leather too.

Sorry...couldn't resist. I'm glad yuo have found some really good wax that does the trick for you. Congrats!
