I had a alignment done after new shocks, and when i looked at the torsion bolts i noticed one was at the original adjustment and the other had been backed out about 1/2"!

They also replace the outer tie ride on the right side but not the left.
What is going on here??? Should they have adjusted the tie rod end or both the torsion bolts or something???

Thanks in advance for any good response, i have to drive 2200 miles with this truck.
(1997 Mountaineer btw)

step one of a good alignment is to level the ride height by adjusting the torsion bolts--good there

second is to replace any worn parts like an outer tie rod--good there.

I do not understand your concern. Did they show you a printout of the alignment measurements?

Is your truck sitting level (side to side) on a level surface? I would think there should not be a large difference in the torsion bar adjustment unless there is a worn or damaged torsion bar. As for the tierod end, that's normal. This just another reason to do your own work if at all possible. Be sure to check your toe-in. You should measure about 1/16 toe-in. Take a visual look at your tires. Leaning in too much at the top, or leaning out? If you can visually see the difference, have someone else look at it.

I agree, what's the problem?
How does the truck drive?

It drives perfectly i just don't understand why they had to adjust it so much???

Each side sometimes requires different tweaks to the torsion bolts. Mine are different. Alignment shops will sometimes make small adjustments to the torsion bolts for alignment purposes...however some use it to cut corners in getting the alignment right. As long as your front end is level, it's fine.

Remember, the torsion bolts are only for adjustment, they do not actually secure anything.
