Hi Guy's,
I'm in serious trouble with my XLT '97. Drive this truck since 11 years now without any problem. It is serviced at all times. XLT's in SA are seldom, so I have the feeling they sometimes do not know what they do.
I have nor breaks. It started that something went soft on the breaks. I went for a service and they told me it's the booster. A short while later all over sudden on the highway (app. speed 80 KM) I had a bad vibration at the steering wheel and the car started to get slippery. The breaks where very soft. Next morning I noticed that the right back rim and part of the tire where brown, overheated. I took it for a slow test drive and no breaks at all. I checked the break fluid and it was OK. I had a so called specialist here and he told me may be the main break cylinder. I dont believe it because it is only the one rim and tire. Could it be that the break pad at that wheel broke? My car is parked since a month now and you can trust me, no wheels in SA is deadly. I like to nearly call it an emergency and would appreciate any advice what to do.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
