I just got my 91 4x4 running after 2 months seems like for ever. My original plan was a tranny rebuilt but we all know how that goes.... well now I've got kkm truerev, borla hedders a high flow cat and flowmaster 2 chamber, custom me-built 2.5" exaust complete with borla tip and an auto meter guage pod housing sport comp oil pressure and H20 temp guages and a B&M light truck megashifter, (these shifters were not made for the A4LD but I just added some me-built adapters it works great)not to mention a custom torque conveter built by my buddy Gary. She runs great. Next month ,AFTER FINALS, thank god summer, comes my custom me-built superlift replica 5.5" lift bullet proof made from t-1 steel. boulder proof? Hi, nice truck, seems like it must run great now. I was wondering about your B&M Megashifter? Is that one of their ratcheted autoshifters? I was looking at them, and wondering how they were, and what it would take to adapt to our trucks. How do you like it? How hard was the install? I would really apreciate some info. I dont know much about the autoshifters, I posted a thread a few months ago about it, but didnt get any replies. Thanks in advance,

As a matter of fact it is a ratchet action shifter. I like it alot. It was time consuming to install. I used the GM 700R4 set up ti is pretty similar to the A4LD. The mounting and and wiring was farily easy due to the fact that I had the tranny off. I had to make some plates to bolt to the bottom of the floor to reinforce it. I had to cut and move the bracket for the for the shift linkage and also I had to cut the origional pin on the tranny where the linkage attached off and drill out the hole. Then take the new supplied pin and weld a bolt to it to make it long enough to fit straight doing this took a few days in it self you know trial and error. I will try to get some pics on as soon as I can. As for long term durability Ive olny had it a day. The crutial part is making sure the rooster gears line up so that it does not stay in between gears. I would not recommend any body try it unless they have time to kill. A few times I was ready to scrap the hole project but since I had cut the factory pin for the shift linkage off of the tranny it was do or die. I got it from summit racing for 165 bucks.

damn, well I definetly dont have enough knowledge of transmissions to try that on my own. I think it would be great to have something like that, but I am just a hobby mechanic, who basicly has taught myself everything I know. I dont think I want to go experimenting with my tranny I thought B&M made a shifter for the explorers tranny? I almost bought one from carparts.com. I called them and they said it would bolt right on. That I would just have to mount it. Damn good thing I didnt, I would have never been able to do all that work. Well keep me posted as to how it holds up. maybe someday I will have the knowledge to take that challange on.

jourom b&m does have a shift kit type thing for our trucks , but it is not the same thing that he installed and the thing made for our trucks doesnt really work good , I have heard
