I need a new fuel tank filler hose for a 97 XLT 4.0 OHV. I bought a dorman 573-018 but there is no way it's going on. It has a 1" ID and the tank is 1-1/8+. I think I had this same problem with a 2000 XLS but it was a long time ago and I don't remember what I did about it. Anyone know where to get a hose that fits?

Dorman 71178YDCB
should be the number that fit,
not shure, never changed the hose.

How do you get that number? The Dorman catalog calls for 573-018.

2 ft minimum for 4 dr.

Worst case, look into bulk hose from a marine supplier. Boats need large, kink resistant hose to run from the fill to the tank.

I was holding the filler neck in the vise and used a heat gun to stretch the rubber hose over the end of it. Then I pulled the hose back off and did the other end. It made it a lot easier to get the hose onto the tank. I'm glad that you figured it out.

Boiling water works too
